Isle of Man
Four Wheel Drive Club

The official 4×4 off road club

The Isle of Man Four Wheel Drive Club offers a wide range of year-round activities.

As an all-inclusive club, we are not marque-specific and cater to all 4×4 enthusiasts. You can enjoy leisurely green lane drives or competitive events. We also host off-road trials with set-up gates to test drivers and vehicles.

We are keen to ensure sustainability in the environment and offer various one-off events to ensure full inclusion, including an annual beach drive, repair days on green lanes, social meetings, and an annual Mule weekend. Additional events include exhibiting at local shows, UK greenlaning, competitions, and off-road shows.

Greenlaning

Probably the most popular of all the club’s events and certainly the most frequent.

Trials

Through our membership of Motorsports UK, and after securing the necessary permissions, the club organises a series of off-road trials. While these trials are competitive, they emphasise driving skills rather than speed.

Challenges

Organised under Motorsports UK rules and guidelines, these are more challenging events. Classes are based on the degree of difficulty and the number of “trick” modifications made to 4×4 vehicles.

Annual beach run

Once a year, if tides and the timing of low tide permit, the Club organises a drive on the foreshore, usually from Glen Wyllin in the west of the island, right up the west coast and round the northern tip, the Point of Ayre, and then down the east coast to Ramsey.

Mule

The annual Mule event on the Isle of Man is a two-day team-based off-road navigation challenge, typically held in early November.

Social events

It’s not just off-road events, we also organise social gatherings at venues across the island – suggestions for these are always welcome. Check out a list of these events on our Facebook page.
